The best racing day of the year has arrived, as the world’s top thoroughbreds will meet Saturday at Keeneland for the Breeders’ Cup Championships over nine highly competitive divisional races. As I have done for the past several years due to time constraints, I will be presenting my picks in spreadsheet form rather than via a full write up.
Below, I break down each race and list my picks in order of preference, coding in GREEN the horses that I plan to play on the win line on some level (outright win bets, top of exacta/ trifecta, multi-race use). Coded below them in PINK are the horses I believe are playable in underneath spots for the exotics, or as deeper saver or longshot plays in multis. For each competitor, I have listed their last three Beyer Speed Figures as well as their top Brisnet and Racing Post Rating at the race distance, where applicable, as well as some brief thoughts on each runner. The RPR number specifically helps to compare European form to their American counterparts. As pace analysis should be the starting point for any handicapping exercise, I’ve provided Timeform Pace Projector data where it is available for each of the races.
