WINE OF THE MONTH- DECEMBER
I’m posting my Wine of the Month for December a bit late as the holidays have passed for the most part, but I wanted to bring attention to a delicious and affordable wine that is young and widely available, making it a perfect candidate to purchase and hold on to for next year’s Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Usually I feature a sparkling wine in December, but the combination of cranberry, sweet potatoes and stuffing with this wine was too perfect to overlook. And, since I spent perhaps my favorite vacation of the year in the Paso Robles area, I thought it fitting to re-emphasize how great the wines from that region are tasting right now. Happy New Year, and cheers!
Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Paso Robles 2010, 90 Points, $20- Lots of ripe red fruit on the nose. Raspberry and cranberry fruit combines above red licorice, smoke and well water mineral complexities. Spice lingers through the finish, and the texture is smooth and harmonious.
