WINE OF THE MONTH- APRIL

Again, I just barely made my wine of the month post for April in time, but I’ve been in Italy for the past week and a half, so at least have a good reason! (More on that trip in coming weeks…)

Earlier in the month, I organized a fantastic tasting of South American Reds, and the wine I have chosen as the wine for this month was very popular at that tasting (one taster described it as “flawless”), and shockingly competitive overall for the cost. Scoop ’em up!

BODEGA CATENA ZAPATA MALBEC MENDOZA 2004, $20, 91 Points

Toasty aromas of berry fruit, mocha, espresso and licorice. Caressing fruit flavors of dark raspberry, blueberry and licorice above layers of toast, mocha and mineral. Long length of violety berry fruit, mocha and minerally spice. A real winner.
