WINE OF THE MONTH- NOVEMBER
I recently returned from my second journey of the year to the Napa and Sonoma valleys, and tasted over 100 wines over a four day trip (more on that in due time). With the holiday season drawing near, I thought it would be appropriate to highlight one of the fantastic sparkling wines being produced in this region. Check out the photo at the very end of the post, which shows us soaking up the spooky twilight ambiance of Domaine Carneros in autumn!
DOMAINE CARNEROS BRUT CARNEROS 2005, 90 POINTS, $25, 45,000 cases produced- Subtle aromas of pear, apple and hazelnut. Clean, crisp body of pear, lemon-lime, almond and hazelnut flavors which evolve nicely and with aggression. A serious sparkling wine that doesn’t try too hard, brassy minerality lingers with crisp fruit through the long finish. 66% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay.
