WINE OF THE MONTH- JANUARY

It’s becoming very difficult in this day in  age to find quality bottles of wine that are widely available at a reasonable price. With my wine of the month feature, I try to provide you, the consumer, with examples of wines that fulfill these often elusive requirements. To kick off the new year, I’ve picked a wine that overdoes it on both counts!

COLUMBIA CREST MERLOT COLUMBIA VALLEY GRAND ESTATES 2004, 89 Points, $10, 140,000 cases made

A racy body of blueberry and blackberry fruit is held together nicely with light oaky undertones and the slightest hint of earth. Long finish of black fruit and mocha spice lingers with rounded tannins. Impressively complex for such large production.
