Wine of the Month- MARCH
Okay, so I admit I was a bit lazy on this one and as a result I give you my Wine of the Month for March on the first day of April. Forgive me! I recently organized an tasting of Australian reds and this wine was the almost undisputed champion. I actually mentioned it in my “Top 25 Wines of 2006” posting, but the combination of flavor and value that it offers merits additional recognition.
TAPESTRY SHIRAZ MCLAREN VALE 2003, 91 POINTS, $20
This lovely wine offers powerful dark fruit aromas of blueberry and blackberry with notes of toasty oak and pepper. Velvety, intense initial flavors of violet, plum and blueberry evolve into blackberry and vanilla with hints of pepper and black licorice. Long, full-bodied length with pepper spice intertwined perfectly.
